How much will I pay for delivery and how soon will the piece I have bought arrive?
We aim to deliver within 2-4 weeks of ordering, using only proffessional carriers. The cost of delivery is included in the price within mainland England and Wales. For other parts of the UK there may be an additional charge, depending on the piece. A delivery quote will be provided when we receive your order. This reserves your item. Your card will not be charged until you agree to the delivery price.
How can we be sure what we buy isn't a reproduction?
On the website we give a money back guarantee that there are no new items other than contemporary art. Our furniture dates from the 18th to the 20th century.
What if the colour isnt right?
The limitations of computer technology make exact colour matches from our computer to yours unlikely so we can't accept responsibility for variations of this kind. May we suggest you come and see the item in the shop when an exact colour match for wood, paint, gilding etc, is needed.
What else do we need to know?
French armoires are generally taller & narrower (and less deep) than English wardrobes, as are French mirrors. Do check that you have enough height before ordering and don't hesitate to phone for more information. Many but not all of the large book-cases, armoires and beds will dismantle for delivery and re-assembly is on the whole easier than putting together some flat-pack furniture. I don't know who coined the phrase 'size isn't everything' but I am sure they haven't tried to get a small fixed armoire around a dog-leg staircase. If you are in doubt about whether something will fit, phone us and talk it through before ordering and dont forget to 'read the manual'. Photographs can be deceptive so far as size is concerned so if you are in any doubt, make a paper template using the dimensions on the website and put it on the floor!
What if the item I wanted is sold?
We promise to keep our website updated but we are selling one-off items and there will inevitably be times when you have been pipped to the post. If this happens contact us and we will try to source a similar piece ourselves or we may be able to suggest another trusted supplier. |
